Meadow View is a home for 32 residents with specialist care requirements in regard to dementia and other age-related illnesses.
The accommodation consists of 16 long-term and 16 short-term en-suite bedrooms with associated dining and lounge areas. The project also includes a restaurant/cafe, hair dresser, activity rooms, a full production kitchen, consultancy rooms and treatment facilities.
The building is the focal point for delivering services to older people with more complex levels of need, including dementia, and promotes individual requirements for independence, well-being and dignity. An emphasis was placed upon ensuing that the domestic qualities of the building were prioritised, and that the building did not feel or look institutional.
As the site is located within a beautiful green landscape and affords stunning views across the Dales to the west of the site, a further priority was the setting of the building within its site context. It sits in the knuckle that joins Darley Dale with Matlock on the A6 corridor.
