The Axium Shortlisted for Midlands ‘Apartments of the Year’ as Residents Move In
The Axium has been shortlisted for two awards at the annual Midlands Residential Property Awards, ‘Placemaking Project of the Year’ and ‘Apartment Development of the Year’.
The recently completed GNA design is located in the heart of Birmingham City Centre, providing 300+ high quality homes in a contemporary brick building, helping act as a catalyst for regeneration of the local area.
The brick type and colour have been carefully selected to reinforce the Birmingham masonry vernacular. Use of alternative bonding and recessed brick work around the development provide a palette of textures that deliver depth to the façade, whilst window openings are arranged to deliver a legible streetscape and to optimise daylighting into dwellings.
Innovative use of cold rolled components, pre-assembled on the factory floor before transport to site and installation, delivered a high level of quality to the façade construction. This in addition benefited both the construction programme, methodology and improved the build’s sustainability credentials.
The building was handed over for residents to occupy last month in April for Birmingham based Developer, Court Collaboration (shortlisted for Urban & City Living Developer of the Year).
The Midlands Residential Property Awards this year “highlights the resilience and ambition of the sector in the region in the face of the pandemic”. The awards will be announced on 24th June 2021 at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre.
