Meadow View Dementia Care Centre

Multi-award winning dementia design

The multiple award-winning Meadow View Specialist Dementia Residential Care Centre is in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Derbyshire with stunning views over the Darley Dales. Located a short distance from the historical towns of Matlock and Matlock Bath, Meadow View was commissioned by Derbyshire County Council to support older people with serious age-related illnesses, such as Dementia and Alzheimer’s.

The accommodation consists of 16 long-term and 16 short-term en-suite bedrooms with associated dining and lounge areas. The project also includes a restaurant/café, hairdresser, activity rooms, a full production kitchen, consultancy rooms and treatment facilities.

The centre is designed to embody the natural heritage of the locality, whilst positively dispelling the stigma associated with buildings for the elderly. Located on a challenging sloping site within a designated green corridor, it works with the natural topography of the land and as a result, the building follows the site’s contours. The use of wildflower and meadow grass green roofs provide a visual continuity with the surrounding countryside.
